The Partnership for Pre-Professional Pilipinos, also known as P4, is an organization dedicated to the advancement of Pilipinos in law and business. This is a mission that becomes clearer as ever increasing economic and legal challenges face the growing Pilipino Community. Our organization strives to create strong leaders that are capable of encountering these obstacles and organizing our communities for more political, legal, and economic freedom.
What is P4?
P4 is a nine-year old organization that acts as a support group for students interested in pursuing professional careers. We are a catalyst that ensures the advancement of Pilipinos and students into law and business.
How does P4 do this?
P4 holds various events that train students, giving them the experience and education necessary to aid them in their career-oriented goals: everything from community services, workshops, panels, internships, and mentorships. These programs and events allow students to ask questions to more experienced students and actual professionals already working in the field, to receive fist-hand experience of what the profession is like, and to prepare for every step required in pursuing their careers, from resumes and cover letters, to applications, to graduate schools and interviews.
What services does P4 provide?
· P4 holds several professional workshops that assists and guides students in their preparation for interviews, resumes, internships, and applications.
· We hold biannual Telebears advisory workshops as well as HAAS application workshops.
· Our community services include but are not limited to legal clinics and tax aid assistance.
· We have various presentations for employment and internship opportunities such as INROADS, GalaxoSmithKlein, as well as our own internship, the Associates Program.
· We hold various career panels that give you an opportunity to question professionals such as lawyers, MBA, law and graduate students, and other students who can share their knowledge and experiences.
· Our mentorship program can match you up with an MBA student, Law student, or Professionals in the respective career; or you, yourself, can be a mentor for someone applying to HAAS and/or law school.
· We have fieldtrips to other law schools in the bay area, attend Admission Workshops, and visit Court Houses.
· We hold presentations from various test preparation businesses such as Kaplan and Blueprint and offer discounts for their courses.
· Office hours are held for any questions (i.e. concerning classes), to critique documents, or just to chill.
What is the Associates Program?
The Associates Program is P4′s own internship that helps build leadership skills and professional experience. Associates work under the Partners in helping them organize and facilitate all events and programs. Associates are responsible for weekly meetings, tabling, office hours, and various planning committees for all over events. The program is also available to be taken for units, school credit, with very easy requirements: 45 hours per unit and a 3-page essay per unit, (of which can be done with no problem because you’ll love P4 so much that both 45 hours and 3 pages won’t be enough!). (see application and syllabus)
How can I be a part of P4?
The best way is to be a part of our Associates Program, which will ensure your participation at all events and functions. Or, if you would prefer, members are still invited to participate in any and all of our events, including our monthly general meetings. (see above for services provided)
How is P4 funded?
We are funded by the ASUC as well as by our own personal fundraising. We hold fundraisers through Ovations (the group responsible for the sports games at Cal) and other football and baseball concession stands in the Bay Area.
Who does P4 collaborate with?
P4 mainly collaborates with the other two Pilipino Professional groups, PASAE (Pilipino Association of Scientists, Architects, and Engineers) and PAHC (Pilipino Association for Health Careers). We also collaborate with all the other Pilipino Organizations, primarily through Pil Directors. In the past, we have collaborated with other Pre-Law and Pre-Business groups such as HUBBA (Haas Undergraduate Black Business Association) and LBSA (Latino Business Student Association). We also collaborate with organizations in the wider Bay Area Community such as FBANC (Filipino Bar Association of Northern California) and student groups at various law schools such as Boalt’s PALS (Pilipino American Law Students).
How can I contact P4?

Hello P4,
As you may already know, ABA is hosting its annual Mister Business Pageant. Marthina Cinco has been to our ABA events and in the spirit of continuing this relationship, we would like to formally extend an invitation for a representative from P4 to participate. It will be held on Friday, April 2nd at 7PM in Andersen Auditorium. Mister Business consists of four segments: Formal, Special (Costume), Talent, and Q&A. In preparation for the event, they will need to be fitted for a tuxedo by March 17. We will also need them to film for the Mister Business Contestant Intro Video by March 19. On Tuesday, March 30, there will be a mandatory rehearsal at 6PM in Andersen Auditorium. If you have any further questions or are interested, please e-mail our Social chairs at christinaoh@berkeley.edu or duong.ana@gmail.com.
Thanks,
Kimberly Becker
